Amigos de Milord

Rupert Shaldrake

One summer afternoon in 1991 a young British soldier left his home in s Liverpool to return to by train to his barracks in the south of England. A little later, that same day, Tara, the family dog, became very disturbed and began to tremble out of control. The young man's parents thought that she was ill, so they gave her a dose of acetaminophen and attempted to comfort her. But they couldn't calm her for nearly an hour. She was alert and restless until the telephone rang:

The telephone call was from a hospital in Birmingham, to say that David had fallen from the train in the vicinity of Tamworth (roughly one hundred thirty kilometers from home). His injuries, although mentionable, were not serious and they let him speak with us. Tara showed relief during the telephone call; afterwards she fell asleep. Later we learned that she had begun to get upset at the exact moment that David had fallen from the train, and she calmed down when he was at the hospital being treated and finding relief.
